baby steps to kindergarten

the seminar

The 'Baby Steps to Kindergarten' is the seminar to help your parents prepare for the transition to school. During the seminar, Kirsten leads parents through the realities and practicalities of starting school.

The one hour seminar is tailored to your clientele and endeavours to support your Early Childhood Educators and support staff to ensure best practice, honest conversations and a robust school readiness programme is being delivered at your centre. Staff are able to nominate their participation in the seminar as teacher nominated professional development for their NSW Teacher Accreditation requirements.

Seminars are conducted either in your centre (in metropolitan Sydney) or in an online forum via Zoom.

Addressing parents questions and concerns around choosing the right time and school for their child, the seminar covers common quesriosn and concerns such as:

  • what does current research say about when to send a child to school?

  • holding back - when to and when not to

  •  expectation of schools

  •  what is school readiness?

  • what do children need to know before starting school

  • what role should I be playing in the school readiness and transition process?

Aimed at addressing the realities of starting school through the eyes of their child, the seminar also walks parents through a detailed and practical breakdown of the developmental skills a child needs to be Kindergarten ready. Most importantly, the seminar covers many ways in which parents can be helping their child during the school readiness journey.
